The numbers are the hard part
Most baby gear pages tell you a seat is “compact” or a bassinet is “roomy”. Neither helps when you are standing in a car park with a tape measure. These tools use published dimensions and safety limits instead of adjectives — the same figures you will find cited on every review here.
Nothing is gated
No account, no email capture, no “unlock the full results”. If a tool cannot answer your question with the data it holds, it says so plainly rather than guessing a number to look useful.
Kept current
Car seat limits change when manufacturers revise a model, and recall notices go up without warning. The recall search reads from the US CPSC feed, and the seat specifications behind the fit calculator are re-checked on a schedule against the manufacturers’ own published figures.
Where the data comes from: manufacturer specification sheets, the NHTSA and CPSC public databases, and the published safety standard each product is certified to. Where a figure could not be verified against a primary source, it is left out of the calculation rather than estimated.
